BEAGLE RESCUE AND ADOPTIONPLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO VIEWALLOF THE BEAGLESPOSTED BELOW. THEY ARE ALL DESERVING OF NEW
HOMES!
IF ALL PHOTOS DO NOT LOAD WHEN THIS PAGE IS
OPENED, PLEASE RELOAD/REFRESH THE PAGE.
The Beagles listed below are in dire need of
rescue and adoption. Many have very little time left to be
rescued. Too many Beagles for one reason or another are
abandoned or abused and need rescued by a loving family that
will commit to them for their lifetime. Other times for
reason's beyond an owner's control, they must give up their dog
and find themselves in the unfortunate circumstance of re-homing
their pet. Because Beagles are over all a healthy,
forgiving and loving breed, they do well in re-homing
situations. Please give one of the very deserving
dogs below a second chance. I am always available to
council any family that adopts or rescues a Beagle viewed on
this site free of charge.
JOEY NEEDS A HOME!
Joey (the two pictures
above) was taken in and rescued by a loving family. They
nursed him back to health. Joey is approximately 2 to 3
yrs of age and has a full long life ahead of him. He is now
ready to be adopted by another loving family who can give him a
second chance to be someone's forever dog. Joey is fully
vaccinated and will be neutered on April 1st. He is
very affectionate and is good with other dogs and cats.
He adjusted well to his rescue family and should do so also with
his adoptive family. His rescue family is willing to help
with any shipping costs should a family from another area desire
to adopt Joey. If you feel you can give Joey his second
chance please contact JEAN ROBERTS
located in Saluda Virginia.

MARTHA Hi, there, I'm Martha,
and I'm a sweet tri-color Walker Hound (like an over
sized Beagle). I was found wandering in someone's yard
in Lunenburg County, and they were kind enough to bring
me here so I'd be taken care of. They think I'm about 7
years old. I'm a typical laid-back hound that loves
people and gets along with the other dogs here. If you
think I'm the dog for you, please contact the shelter at
434 736-9595, email

FARMALL AND
DEWEY HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR HOMES FOR SUCH A LONG
TIME. WON'T SOMEBODY GIVE THEM SOME LOVE?!
This is
Farmall, and
he's a sweet boy-naturally! After all, he's a Beagle! He
walks well on a leash, and really responded well to a 6
year old girl . . . he let her walk him and gave her
lots of love! He's a small bench-leg Beagle (like "Uno"
- the AKC Best In Show) that is the perfect house dog
size. He is so gentle and would make an excellent
companion for another dog and a great family pet. He
loves attention and hopes to find a home with a
wonderful family. At only 6 years old, he still has a
lot of love to give. Farmall made his first trip to
PETSMART on 3/21/08 so we could see how he reacted to a
strange new environment and he had a ball! The kids ran
him around so much he slept like a baby Saturday night.
You can sponsor Farmall's neuter for $50.00 and help him
to get adopted. Please make your check out to Southside
SPCA and mail to Southside
SPCA, P O Pox 66, Meherrin, VA 23954.
Thank you for helping give homeless dogs a chance to
find a loving home.
DEWEY
* Sex: Male
* Age: Senior
* Size: Medium
This is Dewey, and despite his age he assures us
that he's got a lot to offer! He was found as a
stray near Southside Community College. He just
doesn't act like a hunting Beagle... somebody
loved this dog and we can't figure out why they
didn't come looking for him! If you have a place
in your heart and home for Dewey, please contact
the shelter.
This is Bagel and he really enjoyed the
attention of our photographers. He's a typical sweet
boy, a small bench-leg Beagle, who would love to enjoy
the good life as a beloved family member. He is one good
looking Beagle. At around 6 years old, he's past the
puppy stage and is ready to settle in to your home. We
think he would be easy to crate train and would catch on
to housebreaking quickly. He's a lover, not a hunter!!
If you're interested in meeting and possibly adopting
Bagel contact the shelter at info@southsidespca.org
This is Willie and he must not have been
a good hunting dog - his name comes from the letter "W"
marked on his side (a hunter's way of marking his dogs,
lucky Willie will never have to hunt again!). He's a
little bit shy but we think he'll warm up once he
figures out we don't want him to hunt anymore. If you
are interested in meeting Willie to possibly adopt
please contact the shelter at
info@southsidespca.org. Willis is up to date
on shots and has been neutered
This mild-mannered beagle's name is Gus,
and he's about 8 years old. He walks very methodically
like a dancer or a spy. He'll come to you for attention,
but he doesn't demand it. But boy does he loved to be
rubbed by the shelter workers...he's a typical, lovable
Beagle that has waisted to many years at the shelter
when he could be someone's best friend! He's also very
sympathetic with his kennelmates when they get nervous.
Just a great, polite fellow! Please contact the shelter
if you'd like Gus in your family! Gus is up to
date on shots and neutered
This is one cool dude! Mr. Foster was
named after one of the area animal control officers that
brought him to us. He is such a handsome and good
natured boy that is looking for a comfy retirement home.
This special Beagle has never had a home of his own . .
.he's lead a hard life as a hunter, now he's ready to be
a couch potato! If you think your family has a special
place in your home and heart, you won't be disappointed.
Please email the shelter for more information. Go
to the website to view the hysterical video of Mr.
Foster. Mr. Foster has been neutered and is up to
date on his shots.
Owl is your typical
sweet and adorable hound. She's about 7-8 years old and
just loves everyone. Of course she also gets along with
other dogs. We don't know much about her past other than
she seems to have had quite a few puppies in her time.
Owl would love to be adopted, or to have a PAWS sponsor
of her very own. If interested in OWL email info@southsidespca.org
to arrange a meeting or inquire about our PAWS program.

a fenced yard. She is spayed, current on all shots,

Elainie is a great
little beagle girl who is approx. 5 years old and 20lbs.
This little one has had a hard life and now deserves a
chance at the good life. Elainie was used for a breeding
dog and sadly lost her last litter of puppies at the
county pound because she was unable to nurse them.
Elainie is a bit shy at first but quickly blossoms to be
a lovebug! She is a happy, playful soul who is starting
to realize its ok to just be a happy dog. Elainie is
spayed, is current on all shots, heartworm negative and
microchipped.
Hi
everybody....here at the rescue they call me 'LUKE'. I'm
approx. 25lbs and I'm about 2 years old. They tell me I
am lucky because I was rescued from a backyard breeder
situation and things weren't so good. Things are pretty
good here and I'm all neutered, had my shots, they say
I'm heartworm negative and I'm going to be microchipped
so my new family can always find me if I get lost. I do
great with other animals and most people. I tend to be a
little shy and needs some 'TLC'. I just wasn't given
much attention at my old home but I am learning its a
GREAT thing! If you're looking for something to love and
call your own then I may be your guy. Just call the
rescue and make arrangements to meet me soon...I'll be
waiting for you! From:

people of all ages, doggies of all sizes, and while he
is cat safe, he needs to go to a home with dog savvy

EMERALD
(Possible large Beagle mix, Harrier or Small Foxhound -
male - 48lbs) •We
found Emmi wondering the streets by himself on June 25,
2008. He followed us home and has been living with us
and our two dogs and one cat since then. We are looking
to place him in a home that is better suited to his
needs, but we will keep him until that forever home
comes. •He is a very special,
sweet dog. He is sensitive and kind, and we don't think
he has one mean bone in him. He smiles all the time and
laughs constantly. Emmi really wants to fit in and be
with people, he will follow you from room to room when
you are at home – but he won't “bug” you for attention,
he just finds his spot and lays down near you. He is
very affectionate and it is important that whomever
adopts him, makes him a member of the family. He sleeps
in our bedroom every night.
•Emmi
is great with children and loves to be petted and
hugged. He's also appropriate with strangers, he won't
just go with anyone he does not recognize, yet he
doesn't bark at people either. He is great with dogs,
and is submissive if push comes to shove. He has been
fine with our cat and has never chased her. We have
never seen him start a ruckus or get aggressive with our
other dogs over toys or affection. He is a fast learner,
and is quickly catching on to walking on a leash; he
also rides fine in the car.
•Emmi
has had all his shots, his is neutered, dewormed, he has
been micro-chipped and is registered with Home Again, he
is on monthly heart-worm prevention, and our vet says he
is in great health. He sleeps solidly through the night.
•Being
a member of the hound group Emmi will follow his nose
into trouble and wander away or chase a wild animal
(deer, racoon, rabbit etc) He needs basic
obedience from a qualified trainer.
•If you
have a large fenced-in property, and feel that you could
keep Emmi safe, we would love to have you adopt him. We
would take Emmi back at any time, if for any reason it
did not work out – no questions asked.

A family in Lakewood who found a
male, neutered Beagle - 40#, 3 years old. He is
housebroken and knows "sit" & "shake". They said he
was tied to a tree in the park and no one has
claimed him. They can't keep the dog and are looking
for rescue. The Lakewood Kennel told them he would
only get 3 days there. Papers and lost and found
listings have been checked. It seems this nice guy
was just dumped in a park. He looks like a large
Beagle or small Foxhound, possibly a Beagle/Foxhound
cross. Red and white, a very pretty dog.
A home must be found for this
handsome guy asap.
